Traversing space via black holes is more cinematic thanks to new visual effects, you can see interstellar gas clouds up close, asteroid fields are less uniformly spread and feature a wider variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, and the Starship Scanner can now locate asteroids which are rich in fuel resources. It's not just freighters that have been updated. Called the stellar extractor, it automatically harvests resources from deep space, based on the system star classification. For example, its grafted eyes can leech energy from enemy starships, it can use neural shielding to resist hostile cargo probes, and the Wormhole Brain allows the ship a look into the economy and conflict levels on the Galaxy Map.Īnd finally, a new piece of integrated freighter technology has been added. You can evolve the traits and stats of your organic vessels by feeding them from the Fleet Management screen.Īs well as inventory space and general procedural upgrades, the living ship can now evolve. These living vessels are procedurally generated and come in a diverse variety of colors, shapes, and tentacle configurations. You may also now encounter organic frigates. You may now construct external doors and windows in your capital ship, and place internal doors, windows, and walls. Freighter exteriors have been visually upgraded, with enhanced textures, improved colors, and high-detail surface decoration, and civilian freighters encountered across the galaxy are now pre-fitted with a variety of bases, which may be modified and expanded after purchase. While building on a freighter, preview holograms can now be seen through walls, and bases now have access to free placement. These pre-decorated rooms can be customized, or you can use empty room variants and you will have control over decorations.Įxisting freighter bases have been preserved, which means legacy parts are fully compatible with the new set.įreighters now feature specialist crew members such as engineers, biologists, and technicians, and hired frigate captains and squadron pilots will visit your capital ship.įreighter farms will come with specialized cultivation chambers, allowing you to grow rows of crops, then harvest all nearby crops with a single interaction.įreighter bases can now be extended beyond the hull, with observation decks and catwalks, visual variants of base parts can now be placed manually, and existing base parts may now be directly replaced without deleting. The onground and onboard service will be the same standards as BA mainline.Once you grab the update, you will notice freighter bases have been completely reinvented, complete with plenty of new parts and themed rooms. There will be no further seperate branding pushed, as for the passenger its all about the BA brand aka Cityflyer. Hopefully things will improve, just like it did when LHR set up Mixed Fleet and they will start to retain more staff. Many crew (many ex-EZY or other airline) have already left the new set up and even returned to EZY. I think people were hopeful it was going to be similar to original Gatwick fleet, but just operating short haul. Something the current BA offering does not. Their service style also allows them to earn a significant amount more in commision from onboard sales. EZY don't have seperate cabins and service routines and so its easier on the crew service on a per passenger basis. Lower salaries, increased working i.e cabin crew will regularly be rostered 5-7 days on in a row, lower company benefits, no cabin crew catering, no aircraft cleaners away from LGW base etc etc. They say this is in comparison to the likes of EZY. Or are they planning to go full ULCC and differentiate it more clearly in the future with Euroflyer added to the livery (rather than just a small sticker on the aircraft?)You are correct in your first half. What is the idea with spinning it off? I see "lower cost base", but how does that actually translate - are they able to negotiate lower salaries for staff, less benefits etc by focusing on Gatwick competition?
